Date:
December 26, 2023

India / Rajasthan / Jaisalmer district / east of Khoohdi
Sex:
Age:
Juvenile
Georeference:
26.60243, 70.77500
Note:
cf. fasciataAt first glance, young Eremias fasciata could indeed be mistaken for juveniles of Acanthodactylus cantoris, as both species display a very similar striped pattern and appear almost identical in size and body shape. However, one small detail reliably reveals which genus an animal belongs to: the position of the nostril. In Acanthodactylus, it touches the first upper lip scale directly, whereas in Eremias it is separated from it.
